HFpEF in Primary Care: Early Recognition, Workup & Modern Management in 2026

A Free Virtual CME Webinar for Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners & Primary Care Teams

Thursday, June 25th, 2026 | 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST | Live via Zoom

HFpEF Is Now the Dominant Form of Heart Failure — and It’s Being Missed Every Day in Primary Care

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) now accounts for more than half of all heart failure cases in Canada — and its prevalence is rising alongside aging, obesity, hypertension, and diabetes in our communities.

Unlike HFrEF, HFpEF presents subtly. Exertional dyspnea is often attributed to deconditioning. Peripheral edema gets managed empirically. The diagnostic window closes quietly.

The stakes are significant: delayed diagnosis leads to preventable hospitalizations, accelerated functional decline, and missed opportunities for evidence-based intervention. And the treatment landscape is rapidly evolving — with SGLT2 inhibitors and emerging therapies reshaping how cardiologists and primary care teams approach this condition together.

This webinar is designed for the clinicians who see these patients first.

What You’ll Walk Away With

  • How to recognize HFpEF in your primary care patients — including subtle presentations that often get missed

  • A practical approach to the initial workup: natriuretic peptides, echocardiography, and when to refer

  • An updated overview of evidence-based therapies: SGLT2 inhibitors, diuretic strategies, and lifestyle co-management

  • How to communicate effectively with your cardiology team and facilitate timely, appropriate referrals

  • A framework for ongoing monitoring and shared management of HFpEF patients in the community

  • Red flags and urgent indicators that require immediate escalation or emergency referral
